Our Effectiveness

Patients who enter BAART Programs for treatment of opiate dependence get better.  One of the measures of success in our treatment programs is the reduction and eventual cessation of illicit opiate use. With our patients, over time, this occurs. This improvement is shown in the graphs below. The green bar on the left shows the approximate percentage of opiate use of patients when they first walk through our doors. The blue bar shows the percentage of opiate use of our patients who are within their first year of treatment with BAART. The red bar shows the amount of opiate use for patients in their second year of treatment. Lastly, the yellow bar shows the overall opiate use for those who have been in treatment with BAART for more than two years.

The top graph illustrates patients from the region. The bottom graph refers to patients in our entire system of NTP clinics. The results are dramatic:  While 100% of the patients are using when they walk in the door, after two years less than 20% are using illicit opiates.
